The line for the tram may have approached 30 minutes, but the lines for
the other lifts were much shorter. The Jet chair had a 5-10 minute wait
during the usual mid-morning rush, but I made it through the singles
line in a couple minutes. The Red chair line was shorter on the few
times I used it. The Freezer had no line, for good reason because it was
cold up there.
I was amazed at how quickly the glades were tracked out on Saturday. I
think it was partly pent-up demand for powder in this otherwise lousy
season, and partly that Jay has become much more popular with glade and
powder skiers over the past few seasons. For example, Orchard was
tracked out on Saturday by early afternoon. Back in the late-1990's, it
would have taken a whole weekend to lightly track out Orchard. Other
off-piste, personal favorites of mine were also tracked out much more
quickly than I recall in the past. Maybe I'm just skiing too slow these
days.

Surely, Jay is a lot fresher on mid-week days, but I'll still be heading
there on weekends when there's less snow in central Vermont. So far this
season, I've skied more days at Jay than Killington, where I have a
season pass (which I did not pay for). The best thing about that pass is
that it gets me half price tickets at Jay, and I can ski at Pico.
