.SYNOPSIS...
A large area of high pressure is becoming established over the
region and will persist right through the middle of next week.
This will lead to warming temperatures each day with above normal
readings expected through much of next week. Plenty of sunshine
will also exist and no precipitation is expected.
&&
.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
As of 643 AM EDT Saturday...High pressure both at the surface and
aloft will lead to quiet weather today through Sunday.
Today...Going forecast in good shape with only tweak to add some
high clouds over parts of Rutland and Windsor counties...but these
should not have much impact on the area still seeing quite a bit
of sun today. Otherwise...early morning fog in the favored valley
locations will be burning off by mid-morning. Expecting a good
deal of sunshine with maybe a little bit of cirrus clouds over our
southern areas. Winds will be light with high temperatures 2-3
degrees warmer than yesterday...which puts highs in the lower to
mid 70s.
Tonight and Sunday...somewhat of a repeat to the Friday night into
Saturday scenario. Clear skies and light winds tonight will lead
to the development of fog in the favored valley locations. Lows
not quite as cold as this morning with lows generally in the mid
40s to mid 50s. The fog burns off by mid-morning on Sunday and
full sunshine develops with another 2-3 degrees warmer than
Saturday...which will put highs in the 70s to around 80. Winds
will continue to generally be light and variable.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT/...
As of 352 AM EDT Saturday...Clear skies and light winds will lead
to lows in the mid 40s to mid 50s with more valley fog developing
in the usual places. There should be an increase in high clouds
over the southern half of our area from Hermine.
&&
.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 421 AM EDT Saturday...A ridge of high pressure at the
surface and aloft will remain over the north country from Monday
through Wednesday. This will keep the remains of tropical storm
Hermine stalled off the mid-Atlantic coast through Wednesday, as
it remains trapped under a closed upper low. This will keep the
north country in fair and dry weather from Monday through
Wednesday. On Thursday, a cold front will move slowly east from
the western Great Lakes. This approaching front will help to kick
the remnants of "Hermine" eastward out to sea by late Thursday and
Friday. Have mentioned a chance of showers across the north
country on Thursday, as upper westerlies with the approaching
front finally break down the upper ridge that has been over the
region. the cold front will move through the region on Friday, so
have gone with a chance for some showers and thunderstorms on
Friday. The GFS 0-6km bulk shear only showing about 15 to 20 knots
of shear over the region on Friday, so not expecting any of the
thunderstorms to become severe on Friday.

.AVIATION /12Z Saturday THROUGH Wednesday/...
Through 06Z Sunday...High pressure will remain entrenched over the
area which will lead to VFR conditions through much of the period.
The exception will be this morning through about 14z as the high
pressure system enhances the potential for fog due to clear skies
and light winds. Most favored locations will be at KMSS...KSLK...
and KMPV where periods of IFR to VLIFR are expected through about
14z. Winds through the period will be light and variable at all
locations.
Outlook 06Z Sunday through Wednesday...
Strong high pressure over the region will keep conditions mainly
VFR through the period with IFR/LIFR likely in BR/FG at KSLK/KMPV
06-12Z each morning. Only exception will be across southern
terminals Monday night where some low/mid clouds could briefly
intrude with the passage of tropical cyclone Hermine. Flight
categories should largely remain VFR though.
