Denis made some good points.
I have bad knees, and learning to tele did not seem to cause any problems.
However, hard knee pads are required.  I bruised my patela before I bought a
pair.  Not a good way to learn that lesson.  If you're interested hit the
archives from my posts from the end of March and April.  Starting with the one
"I think my seasons over".
It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't very good either.
