I'm not sure they would or that he should. Unless you see a World Cup DH in
person, I don't think you really have a sense of the speed or pitches
involved. TV does not begin to capture it. Then when you go and free ski
those same pitches you really have a sense of how amazing these guys are.

If he has any business sense, he surely should.  (I'm assuming he wouldn't
totally embarrass himself.)  His sponsors would love the exposure,  and
might even be willing to foot the bill for his travel to Europe.

But I'm betting on youthful bravado from afar.
