Good Afternoon,

SPA and Financial and Cost Accounting Services have collaborated on a two-part training series covering personnel effort on sponsored projects. These classes provide invaluable information for anyone involved in proposal submission and managing or certifying faculty effort. The classes will cover the federal and university rules governing effort on sponsored projects, best practices for addressing effort on proposals, and managing effort on awarded sponsored projects. We suggest signing up for both sessions.

Feb 14, 2023 9-10:30 AM Part 1: Personnel Effort on Sponsored Project Proposals (POL042)
Provide an overview of effort commitment on sponsored projects at the University of Vermont with a focus on UVM policy and federal rules around effort commitment. Discuss practical tips for effort commitments at time of proposal. Will cover topics such as: Effort in uniform guidance, use of person months and institutional base salary, UVM minimum PI effort policy, and prior approval requirements.

March 23, 2023 9-11 AM Part 2: Managing Effort on Sponsored Projects (CPT044)
Provide participants with an understanding of the PI Portal commitment data and learn effective business practices in supporting the Principal Investigator and key personnel in assessing and updating their effort on sponsored agreements. Will cover the process of verifying effort for both key and non-key personnel in the PI Portal and proactively identify potential compliance issues.

Registration is open for both courses through PeopleSoft
