We are pleased to announce the list of candidates who have applied to serve
as Deputy Chief Adjudicators (DCA) for Chennai Worlds 2014.  They are:

·      Udayan Mukherjee (Victoria University of Wellington)

·      Josiah Adiema Olal (Uganda Christian University)

·      Kristen Price (University of Queensland)

·      Fiona Prowse (Monash University)

·      Sebastian Templeton (Victoria University of Wellington)

·      Danique van Koppenhagen (Utrecht University)

·      Steve Whittington (Victoria University of Wellington)





We are looking to appoint three further DCAs. We are committed to
appointing a regionally diverse adjudication team with at least one ESL or
EFL DCA. We may appoint one DCA irrespective of the region he or she is
from.



Before we choose DCAs to add to our adjudication team, we invite and
encourage you to provide feedback on the candidates. Feedback from the
World Debating Community is important in allowing us to understand the
strengths and weaknesses of candidates, and is an important part of the DCA
selection process.



As outlined in our bid, we are looking for individuals who possess:



·       Organizational ability – DCAs should have the ability to help with
the running of the competitions and the ability to work well as part of a
team.

·       Motion-setting ability – DCAs should be able to set interesting and
fair motions and should have the ability to critique motions (including
their own).

·       Strong Adjudicators – DCAs should be good adjudicators, able to
make correct decisions and provide high-quality feedback to participants.

·       Knowledge of their regional and international debating circuit –
DCAs should be approachable and have a broad, deep and current knowledge of
their region’s debating circuit. DCAs should also have experience and
insight on international debating.

deadline for receiving feedback is October 28, 2012, at 11:30pm GMT. This
allows for one additional week of feedback from what we original announced,
however it does not change our aim to announce DCAs by early November. We
will announce our decision shortly after the feedback period closes. All
feedback will be treated in the strictest confidence.



We are hoping to hear from a wide variety of individuals, including those
who have served on an adjudication team with a candidate, coached debating
with a candidate, judged with or been judged by a candidate, or otherwise
have insight into their skills as a would-be DCA.  While there is no
suggested “word limit” for this feedback, we would strongly encourage you
to be concise.
