Over the last few years, the University of Denver has allowed me to host tournaments on their campus without asking for anything in return. I have always appreciated their kindness and have made it clear that should they ever need a favor from me that they only need ask. It appears that they are now in need of a favor. DU's policy program recently got a small boost in their budget and are asking for a larger boost next season. After meeting with DU's Director of Debate, Dan Lair, and their head coach, Justin Eckstein, it was decided that giving DU co-hosting credit for the USU is the type of arrangement that will impress administrators and help them access the funds they need.

DU has agreed to contribute some money for tournament expenses. They are helping find quality judges. They are turning over their campus for the weekend. In other words, they are already doing the things that a co-host does. The only change in the tournament itself is the DU logo (along with Regis') on signage, recognition of DU as a co-host in those situations where recognition normally occurs (i.e. a shout-out during awards), and some DU dignitaries in the audience for the final round.

We are looking forward to your Denver visit and can assure you that recognizing DU's contribution to the tournament will not change a single aspect of the running of the tournament.
