Bill Johnson, Port Townsend, WA.
The screening for AAA *was* approved, and should anyone be denied payment
for this service for eligible recipients, I would appreciate hearing about
it. This screening is woefully underutilized to my mind, but was very
strongly researched and can save lives.
However, it does *not* apply to *every* male 65 or older and there are some
other stipulations involved. Please check
http://www.pacificvascular.com/extra/medicareAAAscreeningben5-07.pdf for
details. I do not think anything has changed significantly. Aetna states "
*if selection criteria are met*" and I figure they would hold us to that.
So, if you got a never smoked male tell him to buy a carton of cigarettes,
and he can get scanned? Ya gotta love the bureaucracy! Or not?
