Matt,
I agree except CIMT uses a "T" code and has, I believe a $35 dollar reimbursement but you can't do a full carotid on the same visit.
For those that need the $35 dollars to keep your labs afloat :)

I know that's what it's going to take for me! Happy holiday eating everyone. e
What unique conversation would a cIMT study really lead to? The same one every doctor has with a patient: quit smoking, watch your cholesterol, and control your diabetes… These are all givens anyway, so what’s the real point? Most doctors discuss risk factors for cardiovascular disease regardless of having had a fancy ultrasound (not covered by insurance). I doubt there are positive statistics out there showing an increase in the number of patients, who were “hard to get through to”, changing their habits after being told their vascular age. It takes a heart attack, bypass graft or amputation for many to change their lifestyle. Even then, some continue to engage in unhealthy behavior.
Matt
