Following is a statement from President Ed Colodny on Today's Events
-----------------------------
The catastrophe being reported is beyond rational belief. We at UVM can
only hope at this point that there are no personal losses for members of
our community.
I believe it is in the best interest of maintaining as much calm as
possible that classes and other scheduled activities go on as
planned. Should the situation warrant any change, we will react
accordingly.
Those who do require immediate assistance should contact the Counseling
Center at 63340 or the Employee Assistance Program at 62100.
Large screen televisions have been set up in Memorial Lounge, Billings
North Lounge, and at Bailey Howe Library, on the lower level, where
members of the community can monitor the situation.
In addition, we are in the process of setting up nine information
gathering and support services centers, one in each residence hall complex
in the main common area, as well as in Billings North Lounge and the ALANA
Student Center. They should be operating by 1 p.m.
Our sympathy and concern go out to all who may be affected by this tragedy.
