UVM Women's Hockey 2003-2004 Schedule Announced

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of Vermont women's hockey team
typically plays one of the toughest schedules in the nation and the
2003-2004 campaign is more of the same. Vermont will play eight
teams that were ranked among the top 10 in both the US College Hockey
Online and USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Top 10 Women's Hockey
Polls.

The Catamounts open the year on October 10th and 11th with a two-game
series in Madison, Wisconsin versus the University of Wisconsin. The
Badgers finished 2002-2003 ranked fifth in the polls, posting a
record of 22-8-5 overall and finishing third in the Western College
Hockey Association (14-6-4).

UVM returns home to face Providence (#6 last year) in its first game
at Gutterson Fieldhouse on October 18th. Other non-conference
opponents on the schedule include Northeastern, Boston College,
Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac, Wayne State and North Dakota. Vermont will
entertain UND on January 5th and 6th. The two teams split last
season in Grand Forks, N.D., the Fighting Sioux's first year of
varsity action.

Vermont kicks off ECAC action with a home-and-home series versus
Dartmouth. The Catamounts host the Big Green on November 8th in
Burlington and then travel to Hanover, N.H. on November 9th. Both
Dartmouth and Harvard advanced to the NCAA Women's Frozen Four last
season. The Big Green earned a final ranking of #4/#3 in the polls,
while Harvard, the NCAA Runner-up, finished as the second best team
in the nation.
