Greetings, Vt birders:
Yesterday, during the Burlington CBC, the sector 14 team was delighted to find a large flock of Cedar Waxwings accompanied by 3 Bohemian Waxwings! The flock was feeding on berries close to Dorset Street and Nicklaus Circle and were quite accommodating by flying east across Dorset street to enter our sector. Nicklaus Circle is a small drive just south of Swift Street and the Community Gardens (along the edge of Dorset Park). A little while later we were walking along the edge of Dorset Park and saw (most likely) the same flock. There was also a first year Shrike. This bird was in a large lone tree with a few Blue Jays. We enjoyed watching the Shrike fly at a blue jay, resulting in a flurry of chase. (A very ambitious Shrike, it would seem). There was also a flock of 10 Common Redpolls feeding in a birch tree at the southeast corner of Brand Farm Road.
Great winter birding to you all!!
