Thanks so much to John Deppman (VTBIRDLISTserv) for the good directions to reach the Whooping Crane this morning. Bird Buddies, Kate Olgiati, and Dory and I met unexpectedly on the road. We watched the crane from 1-2pm with the hottest sun and the most heat waves through the scopes but.........saw it actively feeding in that stream or flooded field. Mighty fine bustle; escorted by a Great Blue Heron that appeared in size comparison to be only a "pretty great" blue heron. Congrats to the eyes that first found it in that field - way way out there.
