Friday, October 3, 2003.
Catching the first morning rays as they topped the hills to the east, the
beautifully attired and meticulously coiffured male wood ducks, made for
spectacular viewing. Among the observations, pied-billed grebe (5), great blue heron
(7), Canada goose (11), wood duck (111), green-winged teal (2), American black
duck (8), mallard (31), ring-necked duck (31), northern harrier (2), solitary
sandpiper (2), Wilson's snipe (2), ring-billed gull (21), belted kingfisher
(5), swamp sparrow (2).   (Also on 10/01/03 a single merlin reported).
