We've had baby grackles and a baby bluejay in the yard this year.
But our real fun has been watching two baby downy woodpeckers grow
up-- and I think they've now got a younger sibling. Bird guides
indicate that downies may raise two broods further south; but I've
just had the adult, one of the older fledglings (whom mama no longer
feeds) and a much younger downy at the feeder together.
