A small group from the UVM Field Naturalist program ventured out to Red
Rocks Park this morning for a pretty darn good morning of birding
considering how quiet it was initially - 43 species in total during the
2-hour venture!
*But there were some highlights:*
Palm Warbler, a solitary Blue-headed Vireo, one Black-and-White Warbler, a
Louisiana Waterthrush calling in the distance, Black-throated Green
Warblers, and a male yearling moose at the water's edge. Other featured
cast members included Pine Warblers, Ruby-crowns all over, Yellow-rumps,
Downies, Flicker, Titmice, Mergansers and many more against a backdrop of
Chickadees and Goldfinches.
All this played out over a sea of flowering trout lilies, Dutchman's
breeches, spring beauties, foamflower, and trillium -- Happy Spring,
everyone!
