Phil Magnant and I decided to look for Bald Eagles today as several sightings 
have being posted recently. We thought about going to Rouses Point but as 
there were no sightings of the Ivory Gull we assumed that it has left the area. 
Instead we decided to go south. Started at Shelburne Pond and then drove to 
Kingsland Bay, Fort Cassin, Tri-Town and Dead Creek. We saw quite a few 
gulls and ducks that could not be identified as they were too far and the rising 
warm air was creating lots of distortion. Here is what we found:

It was warm, sunny and the windless. Dead Creek has about 15% open water. 
The mouth of the Otter Creek is completely open. Kingslang Bay has probably 
75% open water. Tri-Town has quite a bit of ice left so the Bald Eagles were 
at the ice edge (300 yards from the shore).
