My e-mail was down for over 24 hours, so I couldn’t report the wonderful Lapland Longspurs and Savannah Sparrows at the old barn on Gage Road in Addison - and harriers and Rough-legged Hawks and a few lingering Snow Geese and Snow Buntings - great spot yesterday!

Serendipitous encounters with other birders were as satisfying as serendipitous encounters with birds. Thanks to Zac, Remy, Jim and Dave for adding eyes, ears, conversation and laughter to my first 2016 birding!
