After checking the weather forecast for the next week (cloudy every
evening), I made a last minute decision to try for Whip-poor-will this
evening. I called Julie Filiberti and we went up to the area just north of
the Franklin County Airport and heard 2 Whips singing their hearts out.
They were at very close range. At one point one of them flew to within 20
or 30 feet from us, sang one phrase of his song, and flew back. We never
saw it, of course, but I'm judging distance from the sound.

I heard a single Whip in this area in 2011 and 2012, but this is the first
I found more than one. Very exciting!
