Eating my breakfast, idly watching a grey squirrel cross the lawn and climb the old maple. Suddenly a flock (so I thought) of something smaller shot out of the winter squirrel hole and climbed up the tree then sailed down off to other trees. Very fast, some flew back, then I twigged - Flying Squirrels!! I have never seen live ones in action before, my word, they drop, bank, change course, all in the twinkling of an eye!! Must be at least six of them. Hope they beat off the competition this winter. Shelagh near Fern Lake.
