A cardinal in February!  Then I know the world is turning toward Spring!
As for favorites, I hate to say it, but I like the sassy ones: Blue Jay, Mockingbird, Kiskadee.

I agree with Patricia:  Canyon Wren  and any thrush, though Hermit is  
my favorite when it is in full song.
