Not by me - alas - but it might suggest that Spencer Hardy’s amazing bird today might have been around this area for a couple of days. My partner Bernie came home from a walk on Fitzsimonds Road last Sunday and asked me to identify a mystery bird: large, looked uniformly brown (seen from above), with long pointed wings, swooping low over a lawn near where there’s a chicken coop. His first thought was that it looked like an absurdly big kestrel. I was stumped - but reading Spencer’s post made me wonder. Fitzimonds Road isn’t far from where Spencer saw a chocolate brown bird diving on gulls.
