To my surprise, a song sparrow was singing this afternoon from
the shrubbery near my house. I've certainly not seen one in the
winter the last four years, but I suppose they must be around.

A pair of bluebirds investigating the nestboxes yesterday. I
usually see and/or hear two to half a dozen bluebirds erratically
from time to time over the course of the winter, but this is the
first time I've seen them this year since last fall.
