With the recent rains and subsequent flooding I thought it worth while to check out Cornwall Swamp. It was flooded as expected but this second phase among the waterfowl only resident mallard were observed, mostly males. Females though absent were hopefully and safely incubating eggs. Migrants and vagrants, no doubt, now long gone were on their northern breeding grounds.
Cheers, Roy Pilcher
