Four members of Rutland County Audubon tallied 40 species at Aitken State Forest this morning as part of our ongoing monitoring there this year. Sixty-five species have been observed to date.
Although birdsong has somewhat diminished (except for the red-eyed vireos!), there is still plenty of evidence of breeding as noted by the number of young and adults carrying food.
