This is a late post, but last Friday afternoon (3/19, 3:30-5:30 pm) I made
my first birding trip of the year to the Herrick's Cove Picnic Area.  Most
of the cove was ice free except some of the more protected backwaters. 15
spp. were observed including:

Canada Goose  10
American Black Duck  9
Mallard  23
Common Goldeneye  20
Common Merganser  1
Hooded Merganser  7
Unidentified ducks  10+/- distance and back lighting by sun prevented id.
Ring-billed Gull  4
American Crow  2
Black-capped Chickadee  1
White-breasted Nuthatch  1
American Robin  1
American Tree Sparrow  2
Song Sparrow  3
Red-winged Blackbird  1!
Common Grackle  2
