06/08/05. Four hours of monitoring produced 32 bird species and 10
butterfly species. Of the birds recorded there were 1 PO, 1 PR and 2 CO. Notable
was how small a farm pond is sufficient water for a Canada goose pair to raise
a family!
Included among the butterfly species were Black Swallowtail (1); Canadian
Tiger Swallowtail (4); Clouded Sulphur (2); Silvery Blue (4); American Copper
(1), netted but escaped while attempting to photograph; Silver-bordered
Fritillary (10), photographed; Crescent sp. (1) photographed but this observer
cannot find a field guide match for under-wing pattern, upper view while free
flying appeared to be Northern Crescent; Common Ringlet (27), Little Wood-Satyr
(1); Peck's Skipper (1), netted but also escaped while attempting to
photograph!!
Cheers,
