Be aware that a cuckoo calling may sound far away when in fact the bird can be very close. They readily fly in when called but are usually in stealth mode so keep your eyes open. Since it is a large bird it is generally easy to observe when flying.

In my yard in Brandon:  scarlet tanager, warbling vireo, yellow warbler, redstart, song sparrows all singing.
