Comfortable temperature, slight wind, almost glassy lake - and a huge raft of birds close to the VT side (plus another huge raft close to NYS) - including some real surprises! Pied-billed Grebe, a Gadwall, male and female American Wigeons, a lone Snow Goose, White-winged Scoters, one Red-breasted Merganser, and male and female Barrow’s Goldeneye - plus a Bald Eagle, two Double-crested Cormorants, Lesser and Greater Scaup, Common Mergansers, Hooded Mergansers, Buffleheads, Mallards, Canada Geese (at least five with bright orange neck bands), and literally thousands of Common Goldeneye.

The combo of Jim Mead’s awesome ability to find things and my spotting scope (his is being repaired) made for a very exciting day of birding!!
