Hi, Team   Pipit -

Go south on 102 from Bloomfield, I think just over two miles. Turn right
where there's a Vermont Fish and Wildlife bulletin board introducing visitors to
the West Mountain Wildlife Management Area. The board is back several feet from
the road, so watch carefully. If you get to a vegetable stand on the right
side of the road, turn back.

Follow dirt road for a little under a mile and then take first major left.
It's at a very obvious fork. There's a bridge marked with orange or yellow
just a little way down the correct "tine".

Go 1/2 mile or so, take the first right onto a road that's really just two
ruts, go until this road ends in a field, with a pond visibile on your left.
Walk with the pond on your left and start looking and listening to your right.
The birds were in the woods just before a low place in the "road" which was full
of water.

Bring a vehicle with good clearance, and don't go right after a heavy rain.
Although this is in or adjacent to the West Mountain Wildlife Management Area,
I think the deer camps around the pond are   all on private land, so you may
have to ask permission to wander.   (However, yesterday there were in the mud
prints of bear, moose, several sizes of deer, some large canid, and a mink or
other mustelid - with not a tire or Teva track to be seen.)
