It seems early, but I'm pretty sure that I heard a PINE WARBLER high in
the pitch pines behind my condo in Fort Ethan Allen this morning (3/31)
but it disappeared before I could get my binoculars and confirm it
visually. I'm very familiar with all the trillers, and I'm pretty sure
it was not a junco or chipping sparrow, and certainly not a swamp
sparrow.

Later, I rode up through the islands brought and had many sightings of
TREE SWALLOWS, as well as a pair of AMERICAN KESTRELS copulating near
the Ed Weed Fish Hatchery in Grand Isle, and a couple of EASTERN
MEADOWLARKS on Taber Road in Swanton near Missisquoi National Wildlife
Refuge.

Yesterday, I took my Community College of Vermont Ornithology class to
Ethan Allen Homestead Park in Burlington, where we watched approximately
30 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS fly catching up high in the trees. The flying
insects are hatching.
