I had a nice afternoon (dodging thunderstorms) in Groton-2 yesterday --
mostly common species.

Check out the photos of Atlantis and Aphrodite Fritillaries at
www.wingsphotography.com/frits.html. It's evidence that those
"follow-spots" Glassberg refers to for Atlantis aren't always reliable.
Both of these frits showed them. But do note the eye color on each --
blue-gray for Atlantis and yellowish for Aphrodite. Dark edges on the
upperwings of Atlantis are also really helpful.

It's great to be home after a few weeks in Michigan chasing butterflies,
including Mitchell's Satyr (Neonympha mitchellii). In case anyone is
interested in photos, check out my new web site (still a work in progress)
at: www.wingsphotography.com. (I also highly recommend the Dorcas Copper
and Swamp Metalmark shots.)

Here's the Groton-2 list.

Cabbage White (Pieris rapae)
Clouded Sulphur (Colias philodice)
Striped Hairstreak (Satyrium liparops)
Coral Hairstreak (Satyrium titus)
Great Spangled Fritiallary (Speyeria cybele)
Atlantis Fritillary (Speyeria atlantis)
Aphrodite Fritillary (Speyeria aphrodite) - fresher than the S. atlantis
Crescent (Physiodes sp.)
White Admiral (Limenitis arthemis)
Common Wood-Nymph (Cercyonis pegala)
Northern Pearly-eye (Enodia anthedon)
Little Wood Satyr (Megisto cymela)
European Skipper (Thymelicus lineola)
Peck's Skipper (Polites peckius)
Long Dash (Polites mystic)
Tawny-edged Skipper (Polites themistocles)
Dun Skipper (Euphyes vestris)
Hobomok Skipper (Poanes hobomok) - really worn
