A fine day for butterflies today (30Apr). Appearing today at Helen W.
Buckner Preserve at Bald Mountain in West Haven (unless otherwise noted):

Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) -- 1 (courtesy of Angele Brill)
Cabbage White (Pieris rapae) - 4
Eastern Pine Elfin (Callophrys niphon) - 1
OLIVE (JUNIPER) HAIRSTREAK (C. gryneus) - 1 (Early! Got a photo.)
Spring Azure (Celestrina sp.) - 6
Eastern Comma (Polygonia comma) - 5
Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa) - 4
American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) - 2
Red Admiral (V. atalanta) - 1 at Berlin Pond in Berlin

But I must admit that I had a better butterfly on Thursday (on my way home
from a birding trip to North Carolina):
