We want to analyze raw sediments by thermal decomposition with an EA and
continous-flow IRMS for total sulfur isotopic composition. With about
1000 samples to do other methods for extracting the sulfur and
converting to silver sulfide or barium sulfate are out of the question.
There seems to be sufficient sulfur to produce a good SO2 peak however,
the peak shape degrades rapidly over several samples. I believe I have a
combustion problem and was wondering if anybody else has had any success
doing sediments with this method. We had no problems doing C/N on these
sediments by EA/MS.
