By now, most of you have probably heard that the Vermont House passed
H.847, the civil unions bill.
If you would like to see a little more history in the making, and not
drive to Montpelier to do it, come to the Ethan Allen Homestead's talk
this Wednesday at 7 pm.
Nancy Cott, the eminent and engaging historian, will speak on "Marriage
in America: The "Traditional" Institution in Historical Perspective."
Cott testified before the legislature on the same topic earlier this
year. Now she returns to reprise her testimony as a free public talk.
The event takes place this Wednesday, April 26, at 7 pm, in the Old Mill
Building (next to UVM's Royall Tyler Theater). It is free and a
reception will follow the talk.
