Hey Bonnie-
The flownet keeps rejecting my message. Can you somehow send it?
BTW-I get flownet messages constantly, but the reject message says that I am
not authorized to send mail from my present address. What do you think is
going on?

Your comments, Sandy, are very interesting. SVT and SDMS did similar in-
depth reviews of both the ARDMS and CCI examinations (vascular only). I
chaired the committee for SVT and was present at the SDMS board meeting
where their committee's evaluation was presented. SVT has a document for
minimal standards for credentialling agencies-ARDMS met those standards and
CCI did not, at that time, meet our minimal standards. Two of the big issues
were a lack of a task force survey (which CCI is presently conducting) and
the lack of CME's required. Also, ARDMS is accreditied by the National
Commission for Certifying Agencies and CCI was not. CCI has applied for
certification to NCCA, but as far as I know, has not met their standards.
Was ACC evaluating the vascular test or the cardiology test?
Just my comments. . .

Yes Connie, the ICAVL recognizes both credentials. Several years ago the
American College of Cardiology (one of ICAVL's sponsoring organizations) did
an in depth review of both exams. One of the reviewers happened to be an
ICAVL board member at the time and agreed with his colleagues that the CCI
exam was a valid one. Sandy

It is my understanding that ICAVL will recognize both ARDMS and CCI to
eliminate
any perception of a monopoly by ARDMS.

different organizations may have different motivations for offering
examinations to ultrasound professionals. ultimately, it is the individuals
in the field who determine which credential is the preferred credential.
what if an organization offered an examination and no one sat for the
exam...the credential would not be around for very long!

Why do we have 2 and I hear soon to be 3 organizations involved in the
credentialing of vascular and cardiac sonographers? Also, why do we have so
many organizations supposedly representing our interests - are their
professional and medical differences or is it all just politics?
