6. CREATING SUMMARY SLIDES IN POWERPOINT
If you have a presentation that is divided into sections or
major topics, you can use several techniques to alert your
audience when a new section or topic is starting. One way
is to place a Title Slide at the beginning of each section
that lists the section topics, like a table of contents for
the section. Another technique is to use a different slide
transition for each section. So for the first section you
might use the Box Out slide transition, for the second
section you might use the Blinds Up slide transition, and
so forth. A third option is to create a summary slide.
When a summary slide is created, the slide titles used in
the slides are copied into a bulleted list in the summary
slide. With lengthy presentations, this can be a real

1. Switch to the Slide Sorter view.
2. Click the first slide whose title you want to use in the
summary slide; then press Ctrl as you click each

4. A new slide is inserted in front of the first slide you
selected. Each of the titles from the selected slides
becomes a bullet on the summary slide. The title of the
summary slide is ... you guessed it "Summary Slide".
Suppose you want to create hyperlinks that will take you
from the Summary Slide directly to a specific section then,
at the end of the section, return you to the Summary Slide.
You need to use the Custom Show and Hyperlink features to
accomplish this. These topics are discussed in the next few
