Geoff, thanks for putting FTP Voyager out there for us to test. It worked
fine for me, installing on Win98/Virtual PC, over an older version of
Voyager, on my D drive. I thought I'd try UVMVM, since others will
probably try the other hosts. Here's what I found:
-- File sizes in my CMS disk all show as zero.
-- Able to retrieve a CMS file from my A disk.
-- Default transfer mode is apparently Binary, which makes a real mess
of an EBCDIC text file ;-( Clicking the ASCII button yields proper
EBCDIC-to-ASCII translation. I can't think of any instance where a binary
transfer would be needed on UVMVM (even Virtual PC isn't going to run a CMS
load module!). But I don't know whether ASCII or Automatic ASCII can be
made the default for the UVMVM profile.
-- Text file upload to UVMVM works fine when ASCII is selected.
-- UVMVM doesn't show up in the drop-down list of hosts (when running
Voyager), although it does appear when starting Voyager.
I don't think any of the above are show-stoppers, and I understand
connection to a CMS host was a problem in an earlier release, so to have
this much function is great.
Other UVMVM users may want to give it a more thorough test than mine.
