Has anyone read "The Informationist: A New Health Profession?" editorial in
the June 20th issue of Annals of Internal Medicine by Frank Davidoff and
Valerie Florance? While I'm not sure that what they're advocating requires
an entire new profession - most of it describes what health librarians
already do, given sufficient staffing <g> -- the recomended training could
easily be folded into existing coursework towards the library/information
science degree, subspecialty healthcare or a certificate program for
experienced medical librarians.
