Dear Mathaba,
I have no reservations about publishing my response. I am willing
so much
to participate in this debate. The position on DDT is now being
championed
by mostly western scientists who have no heart at all for
Africans. They
are glorifying DDT a product of the 1940's as if they themselves
have
nothing to contribute. They have ridiculed other malaria control
methods
with a zealous bigotry posing as "humanitarians". Yet we today
know the
involvement of industry in political frameworks has been the bane
of
super-capitalism today. We have seen the industry in nuclear
weapons
development, in landmines and in the current POPs Convention. The
industry is desperate for the continuation if not perpetuation of
its "profits"
legacy even if it means ripping it off from skeletons - especially
in
Africa. The industry hijacked the state apparatus of powerful
countries -
especially the US which has built schizophrenic panic among her
citizens
to fear non-existent threats AKA national interests.
The fact about germ warfare in Africa are begining to trickle
through this
list serve and I'm proud that this new consciousness is not
confined to
people in the American continent only but Kenya too is
experiencing this.
Not withstanding the fact that we are confined to the political
conundrums
of "cold war" politics of yesterday - entwined in the NATO sphere
of influence.
I have just this morning had a discussion with the head of Malaria
control
in the Kenya's Ministry of Health. During the recent Kalazar
outbreak in
Wajir in Norther Kenya, WHO was pressing the control team to use a
drug
which has neither been tested nor approved anywhere. Their reason
- it has
been used in Southern Sudan and in any case those Kenyans were
dying. The
pressure ws valiantly resisted. But here lies the great
machinations of
"guinnea pigging" Africans who are suffering from conditions
created by
the West to suit the West.
Thanks a million for offering to circulate this message

Dear Paul,
Thank you very much for your response. I am forwarding it to Rolf
Martens who spotted and posted the article on the news groups.
May I publish your response on www.mathaba.net following on the
article?
I think that it is important to debate these topics, to clear any
confusions. One thing we know for sure, Africa's traditional enemies are
still active. It would be suicidal to rely on Western scientists to
solve African
problems, it is crucial African scientists take the lead, as it being
done in Kenya and Azania in regard to AIDS.
Please just confirm I can post your response.
Thanks again,

Dear,
I want to respond to your screaming article below on DDT and
malaria. You might want to know that the so called scientists have not
improved on malaria treatment. Most of the anti-malarial drugs we have
at the moment were developed within the US military framework. In
essence, they were meant for the protection of US military personnel.
You may also wish to know that there have been numerous malaria vaccine
tests conducted in Kenya actually in Kisumu on the shores of Lake
Victoria by the US military. I am yet to see what the so called malaria
scientists have done. You may also wish to know that malaria is more of
a developmental problem than merely health (genocide as you call it).
Why do you think that in Africa, the malaria belt is the same as that of
AIDS, over-population, environmental destruction, war, famine and
drought, debt crisis, etc?
Above this you want to add the toxic effects of DDT? There is no
doubt about the dangerous effects of DDT on human health and if these do
not exist then it the scientists are not telling us the truth.
Malaria was quite endemic in Southern Europe until 1940's and DDT
was extensively used to eradicate it. Today they are counting the human
costs of this campaign albeit retrospectively. Today there is increasing
cancer
rates a long the Lake Victoria Basin and it is putative that these were
people exposed to DDT in the early 1960's. There is a wide range of
medical evidence from Mexico to Thailand about safe methods of malaria
vector control. In West Africa for example, biological control methods
have worked very well. We are now looking forward to the extensive use
of genetic engineering to solve this problem even more efficiently by
cloning sterile mosquito species. The military style of solving health
problems cannot suffice in modern times - the use of DDT for malaria
control is like new wine on old wineskins. Public health approach which
improves sanitation is most preferable since it will solve other related
problems related to hygiene - like dysentry, cholera etc.
The Burgeoisies in the West who should stand accused are the
eccentric scientists who are crusading for use of DDT. You may also wish
to know that Pyrethroids are very effective against most mosquito
species. You may
well also be aware that Kenya has been producing 80% of world pyrehtrum
but this has recently declined because the prices are deliberately
controlled and the producers have suspended production. Lowering the
price of pyrethrum based products would eventually lead to increased
production. The only problem is that Kenya will gain substantially to
the chagrin of the West. Improving Kenya's economy will have
"substantial" implications to the West who want to keep the country
constantly under economic siege. The West would want to keep the Kenya
Shilling terribly weak so that they can enjoy cheaper facilities in this
great country of natural beauty.
We should abandon the philosophy of "Nowism" when dealing with
older problems. We must not be deluded by the West who would give us a
product and then later on condemn it. For example we were told that
breastfeeding does not cause HIV infection in children. Today
breastfeeding HIV positive mothers are discouraged. Therefore where is
the scientific truth? Can Western packages work in Africa? They have
failed just like Westren civilization has failed in Africa.
Remember that AIDS is killing millions in sub-saharan Africa, war,
famine and drought have joined the list but we shall not be finished.
Family planning is rigorously championed in this same belt as if the
replacement of lost population should not be our concern.
