I have a question regarding Doppler interrogation of parenchymal renal
arteries during an RA duplex exam. Is angle correction necessary while
sampling flow from upper, middle, and lower poles to measure acceleration
time? We are having some differences of opinion in our lab.

Angle correction is not needed when evaluating the segmental and interlobar
arteries. The acceleration slope does not change with correcting the
insonation angle, this goes also for pulsatility and resistive indices. Only
the velocity is affected with angle correction.
