Email users whose mailers are configured for nonstandard POP and IMAP
hosts have received the messages quoted below, and they're being
asked to change their mail server settings by Nov. 5. In case you
get clients calling for help reconfiguring their mailers, here are
the correct and incorrect settings:
Correct Incorrect
POP pop.uvm.edu moose.uvm.edu, etc.
IMAP imap.uvm.edu zoo.uvm.edu, etc.
The incorrect settings have worked in the past, but won't work after Nov. 5.
In some cases, the email client software may not be explicitly
configured for an incoming mail server, using the user's email
address to determine the mail server. The incoming mail server must
be explicitly specified.
