We have recently installed the Network Associates NetShield antivirus
application on both the Pandora and Calypso Netware file servers.
This product is configured for on-access scanning of files, which means
anytime a file stored on either server is copied, moved or opened it will
be scanned for viruses. When an infected file is found the file will be
cleaned if possible; if the file cannot be cleaned it will be deleted.
(Usually files that cannot be cleaned are actually copies of a virus rather
than usable files)
The person who accesses the files will be notified if Netshield detects a
virus, however they do not need to do anything about this notification as
Netshield will automatically clean the file. Should further information be
needed regarding infected and/or deleted files Netshield does maintain an
activity log which will provide detailed information.
So far, Netshield has detected and successfully eradicated infections on
many files on both servers.
Any questions regarding Netshield on Pandora or Calypso please contact
either myself or Greg MacKinnon ([log in to unmask]).
