"RVU" = Relative Value Units, and are only indirectly linked to time ...
RVUs, by definition, are non-dimensional ... and, time, while significant,
is modified by the occupation performing the procedure (e.g., physician (&
type), RN, RDCS/RDMS, RVT in order of decreasing compensation per minute per
the DOL) ... non-physician time, being considered part of practice expense,
is not part of the RVUs for work, but is part of the RVUs for practice
expense ... The 0.6 RVUw, by definition, includes only the physician work
... RVUpe = 4.01 (transitional 2001) include the work for the RVT, cost of
the machine, etc. etc. etc. ...

I'm not familiar with the medicare terminology. Am I right to assume when
RVU for a carotid is 0.60 that means 60% of an hour or 40 minutes? Also, I
use 93990 for scanning Dialysis grafts or fistulas. Is this what everyone
uses? The title for this on the spreadsheet I downloaded is "Doppler Flow
Testing". Why is this not a duplex and why is the RVT so small? These take
at least an hour because very few do not have complications.
