In our initial experience with radial artery testing, about 6% of the patients we see have abnormal resting digital studies (we do PVRs). Upon radial artery compression, 17% were found to have inadequate digital PVRs (this was 41 out of 238 limbs). Approximately 12% of our patients were found to have abnormal ultrasound results (small vessel size, calcification, occlusion).
These data continue to hold true today. We have been doing these studies since about 1996.
Good luck,

I would like to pose a question about radial studies for research and comparison.
Can anyone please tell me what % of radial studies come up positive in your labs?
Also when doing the Allen's test what if anything can be used, other then PPG?
Thank you for you input.
