i saw a similar scenario a few years ago with higher velocities/perhaps
more severe carotid kinks in a 12 year old.
no sxs.
he did have external to internal and posterior to anterior collaterals on
TCD.
patient has been fine to my knowledge since.
per your velocity question:
as you may know-
velocities are always higher in kids
waveform analysis and velocity ratios may help you grade the
lesion/correct for highflow
angle correction is probably difficult with kinks and may make the
velocities appear artifactually high
TCD may help you decide if thesse kinks are "hemodynamically signifigant"
