There are two chapters in a book Corwin Press has just published that
might be of interest to those in this SIG. In an act of shameless
self-promotion, I'll reproduce the information from the back cover below.

The special interest chapters are Chapter Six: Building Effective
Parent-Teacher Partnerships, by Pam Kay, Martha Fitzgerald, and Stephanie
McConaughy, and Chapter Seven: Building Linkages to Learning Through
Community Partnerships, by Peter Leone, Bob Evert, and Karen Friedman.

Preventing Problem Behaviors: A Handbook of Successful Prevention
Strategies Bob Algozzine and Pam Kay, Editors

Effective prevention programs are based on that premise that early
response to learning, behavior, or emotional problems can lead to better
outcomes for students, teachers, and the school at large ... and now this
ground-breaking book gives practical and specific strategies on building
successful prevention programs at your school.

This detailed and practical book includes insights to prevention through:
 - Improving behavior
 - Using total quality principles
 - Social skills instruction
 - School-wide discipline
 - Parent-Teacher and Community partnerships
 - Conflict resolution and peer mediation
.. as well as real-world advice on how to measure the success of
prevention programs.

This work of strategy and practical tactics is designed to counter
behavioral problems before they get out of hand -- practices that have
been tested, adapted, and proven effective in urban, suburban and rural
classrooms in five states. Contributing authors are award-winning
teachers, accomplished researchers, and nationally known professors of
education and administration.

Here's the fundamental book on prevention--not intervention--that can
start working right now in your classroom, across your campus, and
throughout your district.

Corwin Press can be contacted at 1-800-818-7243, or www.corwinpress.com.
