TTY-Relay Customer Service
Nora Kennedy, VTRS Outreach Coordinator
VTRS (Vermont Telecommunications Relay Service) is a public service
offered to all Vermonters. The VTRS provides a communications link for
deaf, deaf-blind, hard-of-hearing and speech-disabled people with
hearing people. In this workshop you will learn, through observation
and demonstration:
· how the service works
· who uses it
· how hearing people can use the relay to call a deaf or hard-of-hearing
customer back
· relay call etiquette
· common "communication breakdown" areas
· other services included in VTRS, such as voice carry-over (VCO) and
hearing carry-over (HCO)
