Yes, we had this problem with the TC/EA reactor. The temperature reading
freaked out, but I never observed the 1999 warning. After replacing the
controller with no improvement, we finally found that the thermistor wires
were touching each other. These wires cross each other, and the insulator
rings had separated enough to allow them to touch. After adjusting the
insulators, the problem went away. To inspect these wires, you need to remove
the plate underneath the autosampler.

controller "freaking-out" and jumping temp. above its set point, then the
warning comes up - 1999. Perhaps the controller is going bad, or there is a
short in the systme (?).
