In addition to our regular network security, FileMaker Pro allows levels of
access and passwords down to the field level. For example, teachers in our
district can look but not change test scores. Certain secretaries are
allowed to edit, create, and delete records, but not to mess with formulas or
layouts.
MacSchool and WinSchool have similar protections. As a mere administrator, I
am allowed to view data and generate reports, but I cannot edit. The
Mac/WinSchool databases reside on dedicated servers that are not visible to
the casual network user.
